LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration and Viterbo Campus Ministry invited the public to participate in a Eucharistic procession today.
The event is part of a "Season of Faithful Witness." The group is calling attention to public policies they say are causing suffering.
The sisters say this includes topics like immigration, racism, health care and food assistance.
Sister Eileen McKenzie explained the purpose of the procession.
"It is an important participation in the Catholic world, participating in the love of Christ and the mercy of Christ and being fed by that but also by feeding others," McKenzie said. "And to walk with the needs of the world right now that the people who are suffering who have been pushed to the margins, to people who don't have access to healthcare to people who don't access to safety, to people who don't have access to freedom."
The event started with Mass followed by a procession around campus.
