Franciscan Spirituality Center hosts 17th annual Justice and Peace Walk

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- The Franciscan Spirituality Center welcomed participants of all ages and backgrounds for its 17th annual Justice and Peace Walk, a 2-mile prayer journey that connects traditional Catholic practices with contemporary social justice issues.

The walk featured 10 stations along the route where participants stopped to sing, pray and reflect on current situations of suffering and injustice. The format draws inspiration from the traditional Catholic Stations of the Cross while addressing modern-day concerns.

"In the Catholic tradition people do the stations of the cross and this is a reenactment of that, connecting current situations of suffering that happened now," said Steve Spilde, associate director of the Franciscan Spirituality Center.
